In 1992, Barcelona hosted the Olympic Games and upgraded itself to one of the most popular tourist cities in the world, certainly in Europe, and even more so on the shores of the Mediterranean.
Surprisingly, it turns out that the tourist success, which brought tens of millions of tourism and hundreds of billions of dollars to the city, was anathema to the city’s residents, who began to look for some quiet and intimacy.
As a result, the city’s leaders received a number of decisions to reduce investment in tourism infrastructure, and especially in hotels in the city.
But neither tourism nor investors take into consideration the wishes of Barcelona and its residents, and they continue to increase demand and seek opportunities.
A glimpse into an ambiguous tourist city.
Selected Quote
