TV channels for Chinese tourists

March 26, 2018

Source: Hospitality Industry

The Fashion TV network has announced a partnership with Hong Kong-based APT Satellite to create 25 dedicated content channels for tourists from China.

The channels will be distributed in hotels around the world, experiencing an impressive increase in the presence of Chinese tourists.

As expected, the awakening of the Chinese giant and the transition from harsh agricultural communism to Western urbanism carries with it all the characteristics of a bourgeois western lifestyle, including, among other things, a growing expenditure on international tourism.

It happened with the Japanese in the 1970s and 1980s, with the Russians in the 1990s and now the Chinese are coming.

Dedicated TV channels is a basic and primary step. There is no doubt that the global hospitality industry – mainly hotels but also restaurants – faces a fascinating professional challenge with extraordinary cultural aspects.

Selected Quote

“In 2018, 180 million Chinese tourists are expected to travel to overseas destinations, the figure is projected to go to 230 million by 2020. All hotels cater and welcome Chinese tourists and having Chinese channels in their native language greatly comforts the Chinese tourists while they are relaxing from their travel in the hotel.”
