Egypt announced the best quarter for tourism in eight years.
The land of the Nile, which has always been one of the most popular tourism destinations in the world thanks to one of the seven wonders of the world, has suffered in recent years a significant drop in tourism revenues as a result of a series of terrorist attacks, some of which were directed directly at tourists.
In the first quarter of 2018, after a long period of time, there was an increase in tourism, with no less than 15 million foreign tourists visiting the country.
The rise in tourism in the first quarter of 2018 was recorded both in the classical tourism of the Giza antiquities in Cairo and in the vacation tourism of Sharm el-Sheikh and the Red Sea.
Two factors accelerated the improvement in incoming tourism to Egypt: the resumption of regular flights from Russia, which were frozen for two years, and the government’s efforts to fight terrorism.
