Restaurants are Institutes which function is twofold:  providing a solution to hunger and a place for social entertainment. The usual convention is that any political matter should remain outside the restaurant door.

But today we look at it differently. Chefs are leaders of public opinion, people whose opinions are heard and even request. The Chefs are celebrities, employers, influencers and therefore they have a public say in other fields added to their great portions.

More and more restaurants become a personal statement that represents the chef’s personal emphasis – social, communal, moral and even political.

The linked article reviews the phenomenon and the trend, citing examples and more implicitly that this is a welcome trend.

what do you think?

Quote selected:
“Across the country, chefs and restaurant operators are increasingly #StandingUpForSomething – whether it’s food, the environment or fair labor practices”
